Due to federal regulations, we cannot disburse the Pell Grant until students actually begin the classes they are enrolled in. There are many classes at Solano which do not start with the majority of classes, at the beginning of the term. These are called "late start" classes. While a student can enroll in a late start class early, the units for that late start class are not considered attending units until the class begins.
For example, if you have a 3 unit late start class that begins on October 10, you will not be able to be disbursed Pell Grant funds associated with those 3 units until the Monday after October 10.
If you already have 12 units that are not late start, then this does not apply, as you already have 12 attending units.
Similarly, Solano does not disburse loans until students are in 6 or more attending units.
